Jonathan Wolfson had a dream to prove that algae could be a viable substitute to petroleum and help in the fight against fossil fuels and climate change. After a hero ingredient discovery, namely one that’s naturally sourced and sustainably produced through biotechnology, he realised he’d struck skincare gold. That discovery later became 'alguronic acid', a patented compound that protects both algae and human skin. Naturally, the company adapted it and later launched all things Algenist – meaning the ‘Genius of Algae’.
