Every now and again, my other half grabs a pair of nail scissors from the bathroom and carefully trims down my armpit hair. I find it quite relaxing and it has to be said, a carefully curated inch of growth is much more comfortable than an underarm man-bush.
Despite the comfort of having my under arm area neatly trimmed, I’d never really thought about shaving it all off. Thoughts of huge wet streaks running down the side of my shirt put me off, as armpit hair is there to wick sweat away from the body, right? Well no. Underarm hair actually holds onto moisture making you even more sweaty. That’s why most of the top male athletes from bodybuilders to basketball players shave their pits and you’ll be hard pressed to find a professional footballer with a clump of pit fur. If it’s good enough for Ronaldo (a well known advocate of manscaping) then its good enough for me.
To be honest, the actual shaving part is super easy. Just trim down, lather up and shave away. It doesn’t take long and within a minute your underarm mane is completely gone, leaving smooth, clean skin. After a lifetime of having hair, the feeling of freedom was quite invigorating. I immediately felt fresher and cleaner and it has to be said, it does feel more sporty. Downsides? I literally can’t think of any – just take your time while shaving to reduce any nicks or skin irritation.
On that note, what have you got to lose? If you don’t like being hairless, like magic, it grows back. If you do, just continue to keep your armpits smooth using only the highest quality, natural products on your skin. Try it, you might like it.
