Grab a lip vinyl and lightly brush and sweep across your eyes, cheeks, and lips. Yep, you heard that correctly. Forget powdery blushers and eye shadows and instead try something shiny on the cheeks, eyes and, lips for the glossiest glow.
It’s a look that screams that you enjoyed some precious pre-makeup skin prep to achieve truly luminous skin.
The look should say “I’ve just had a mini facial” rather than “I’m called in make-up”, and it’s all the rage this season. While the catwalk pros may have had the benefit of skin-boosting techniques including multi-masking and lymphatic drainage massage, one of the key products for achieving the look, sans clinic help, is Augustinus Bader’s The Rich Cream, which boosts radiance, leaving you hydrated, and plumped.
This is a look we just adore. It finally feels like the emphasis is truly on natural beauty and it’s marvellous to see the catwalks leading the way. While the street style set showed up with all manner of unique hair looks, on the majority of runways the focus was very much on “healthy gorgeous hair”.
It was long, shiny, glossy, and left to fall around faces where possible, or the outfit allowed.
To create the ultra glossy look, we love Rahua’s Classic Shampoo to reduce excess oil from the hairline, then added shine, shape, and definition using Masami’s Mekabu Hydrating Shine Serum.
Clean, fresh-faced, and dewy might be the order of the day for skin, but that doesn’t rule out a blast of colour when the mood takes you.
From 16Arlington, where pastel shades were applied just beneath the waterline, to the tangerine and fuchsia eyeshadows at Simone Rocha, the message is to experiment and have fun with any shade the rainbow affords you.
Bare and minimal is a perennial aesthetic for springtime, so keep it simple and not too powerful. If you prefer a more subtle nod to the trend, try a berry lip, as long as you keep it matte.
But not as you know it. The jury is still out on this one for us. While fluffy, brushed-up brows, made easy with the help of a brow lamination treatment, have been very much a thing for the last few years, this latest trend takes things a step further. Brushed, styled, and waxed into razor-like shapes across your face, make-up artist Isamaya Ffrench thinks it’s the next statement look. Think exaggerated, spikey brows, all achieved by using a brow laminator and comb. It’s certainly striking. How far you take it is up to you.
A great one with party season upon us, disco eyes are now very much a thing.
Halpern’s spring 2023 show saw vivid eyeliners swept across eyelids, encrusted in sequins from the clothing collection to create an upbeat, vibrant look.
Skin is still very much pared back ensuring the sparkle and shine take centre stage.
Makeup artist Lynsey Alexander, who masterminded the looks, used a combination of high pigment long-wear eyeliners, as well as dark eyeshadows to create a strong base. Sequins were glued in place using skin stick glue.
Creating (and wearing) a graphic eye means taking extra care of the delicate skin around the eyes. We love Grown Alchemist’s Eye Makeup Remover to remove any eye make-up, followed by Dr. Barbara Sturm’s Eye Cream.
The countdown to party season is officially on. Things are about to get exciting.
